Misty open-source platform and open hardware is designed to delight robotics enthusiasts and institutions while providing access to a high-tech tool.
Misty is designed to perform human to robot and robot to robot interactions using vision algorithms, supervised or autonomous control, and even voice recognition. Misty also has the ability to access the Internet or communicate via WiFi networks.
Advanced Features for a Fully-Programmable Robot
Deep Learning and AI: Qualcomm's Snapdragon Neural Processing Engine creates opportunities to use object detection for machine learning as well as supporting Misty's ability to perform autonomous tasks.
High-performance Computer Vision & 3D Mapping: With the state-of-the-art Occipital Structure Core, Misty recognizes faces and navigates her environment. Misty's 4K camera lets you to grab images and stream video.
Advanced Mics & Speakers: A 3-mic array detects sound directionally. And Misty's speakers are placed in a carefully engineered sound box with bass port to give Misty amazing sound quality.
6 Capacitive Touch Panels & 8 IR Time-of-Flight Sensors: Capacitive Touch means that Misty knows (and can react) when someone touches her. Her time-of-flight sensors give you distance data and keep Misty safe from falls.
Customizable & and Expandable Hardware: Misty isn't just an amazing piece of tech on her own-she's designed for easy hardware modification with her many attachment points:
- Backpack: Misty's basic "backpack" allows expendability via USB and serial. The Misty Arduino-Compatible Backpack (included in the Misty Starter Pack) turns Misty into a robotic base for your hardware imagination
- Customizable Arms: Misty's emotive arms can be removed and replaced with creations you 3D print or build
- Headpiece Attachment: A magnetized connection point on the side of Misty's head allows you to easily attach additional accessories
- Trailer Hitch: Into the trailer lifestyle? Misty is too. Just hook her up via her built-in hitch port, and she'll tow the (reasonably weighted) trailer of your choice

Misty for Education
- Is not primarily about the mechanics. Kids are tired of building the same kit robots and doing the same basic tasks with them. Misty II is already built (but easy to take apart), so “non-builder” kids won’t feel bored by an initial assembly process. And, because Misty II is hardware extensible, the “maker” kids have very exciting opportunities to explore of their own
- Provides advanced capabilities and handles all the difficult parts of them. Students don’t have to know how to do face and object recognition or mapping, in order to work with a platform that does. They get the advanced technology experience while not getting bogged down in the really tricky parts
- Feels friendly and fun to all kids, not just the ones who like mechanical objects
